I’m still not sure how I feel about playdough after all these years. I mean, my kids love playing with it, but it has a way of ending up smooshed into the carpet, even when it’s only been in the dining room, which has wooden floors (please tell me I’m not the only one?!).
This recipe is super simple, requires no cooking (amen) and lasts quite a long time when stored in airtight containers. I buy all my ingredients from PAK’nSAVE, and usually buy Pams or the most budget brand available; no fancy ingredients needed here.

No Cook Playdough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
3 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons of oil
2 cups boiling water
Food colouring, as desired
Put all ingredients into a bowl.
Knead until smooth.
Simple, right?! One last tip – I split my mixture up into three portions (roughly one cup each), and THEN add different food colouring and knead. So I can have three different colours. Each portion fills a regular sized Playdoh container tub, which I then store it in so it doesn’t dry out.
