Enjoying These Ordinary Days

Sometimes, I get this funny sense of nostalgia. I feel a sadness tugging at me inside, and I start missing these moments before they’ve even gone. These ordinary days. I already miss them, even as I’m living them.

Recipe | Pink Chocolate Party Bark

If you know me well, you'll know that I love things that are cheap, simple and effective. So while I love Pinterest, I usually simplify recipes and craft activities so they are as cheap and as simple as can be. Plus, most Pinterest recipes and crafts call for ingredients or supplies not always readily available … Continue reading Recipe | Pink Chocolate Party Bark

Recipe | Apple Slice

Another tried and true recipe. I am such a fan of the New Zealand Edmonds cookbook - anyone else? If you're from New Zealand and don't own it, are you even a kiwi? We got given our Edmonds for our wedding many moons ago and it's my favourite cookbook. It is torn, has pages missing, … Continue reading Recipe | Apple Slice

Recipe | Chocolate Chip Cookies

Just after I had my first-born, I remember telling my husband I'd love to bake for people in need. Leaving My Suitcases At The Door

This year, I went to my first ever women’s conference called Passionate in Wellington, New Zealand. I signed up after a lot of encouragement from my husband. To be honest, I was pretty wary of the idea at first. I wasn’t sure what to expect and it was definitely out of my comfort zone. But … Continue reading Leaving My Suitcases At The Door

Let’s be one of the ones who is known for looking for and calling out the gold in others, who speaks with grace and kindness about others and to others. There is no shortage of critical voices in the world. People can hardly share a thought or comment or even share a lighthearted peek into their world without the possibility of having a stranger (or social media “friend”) coming behind with criticism or comments that are just totally unnecessary. There’s a time and place to call out what’s truly wrong, but a lot of the time, we haven’t been given the authority or responsibility to address or add our two cents about every little thing we disagree with or would do differently. On the other hand, we have full freedom to call out the things that are beautiful and true... the GOLD in the people around us... the things that build a person up and encourage them in the purpose and destiny God has for them. We can be as free as we want to genuinely speak with kindness, wisdom, grace, and love. And as we do, we’ll be a breath of fresh air to people. Some things never get old; kindness is never out of turn, out of place, or out of style. There’s not a person out there who doesn’t need someone to call out the gold in them. We are all generally fully aware of where we’re missing it or coming up short without the need for people to point it out. But what a gift it is to have someone call out the things we’re doing well, the ways we’re doing a good job. I know I need it, and I’m sure you do, too. So let’s be ones known for being dream-defenders, courage-builders, hope-fillers, faith-stirrers, grace-givers, cheerer-on-ers, and all around GOLD DIGGERS. XO, Andrea p.s. you can find these words available on my website as an art print OR as part of #THEBEAUTYOFKINDNESS mini print collection.
